Kirsty Madigan

Kirsty is a visual artist based in Victoria’s Central Highlands, whose work captures the profound and often paradoxical relationship between humanity and the natural world. Her paintings juxtapose the turmoil, beauty, and freedom of nature, using vivid colour, expressive movement, and dreamlike compositions to reveal the fragile harmony that binds us to our environment. Through her distinctive use of exaggerated tones and fluid, dynamic forms, Kirsty’s imagery slips between reality and imagination—inviting viewers into landscapes that are both familiar and otherworldly. With a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Arts, Kirsty has been developing her creative practice and techniques since the 1990s. Her interdisciplinary approach reflects a lifelong fascination with artistic expression in its many forms. Alongside painting, she also holds an Honours degree in Creative Writing, practices photography, and plays the cello—all of which inform the rhythm, narrative, and emotional texture of her visual work. Rooted in her connection to the land yet ever curious about the unseen and the symbolic, Kirsty’s art continues to evolve as a reflection of both personal experience and collective environmental consciousness.
